1. Abrasive type
The main component of the grinding wheel is abrasive, abrasive has high hardness, wear resistance, heat resistance and toughness, responsible for the grinding work, bear the grinding heat and cutting force.
2. Granularity
Particle size refers to the size of the abrasive particles. According to the abrasive particle size is divided into two kinds of abrasive and grinding powder. Abrasive particles refer to the number of holes per inch length of the screen through which the abrasive particles can just pass. The larger the particle size number, the smaller the actual size of the abrasive particles. Grinding refers to the micron number of the maximum size of the particle measured under a microscope, which is expressed by W with numbers. The larger the number, the larger the size of the micropowder particles.
3. Adhesive
The function of the adhesive is to bond the abrasive grains together to make the grinding wheel have the necessary shape and strength. Its performance determines the strength, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance and grinding wheel life of the grinding wheel.
4. Hardness
The hardness of the grinding wheel refers to the degree of difficulty of the abrasive particles falling off from the surface of the grinding wheel under the action of the grinding force. If the grinding wheel is hard, it is more difficult for the abrasive particles to fall off; on the contrary, if the grinding wheel is soft, it is easier for the abrasive particles to fall off. When the grinding wheel organization is loose, the workpiece material is hard, the grinding contact surface between the grinding wheel and the workpiece is large, and the grinding wheel porosity is low, a softer grinding wheel is needed.

5. Organization
The organization of the grinding wheel is the volume ratio of abrasive particles, binder and pores. The greater the proportion of abrasive particles in the volume of the grinding wheel, the tighter the organization of the grinding wheel and the smaller the pores; on the contrary, the looser the organization. According to the different organization, the grinding wheel can be divided into three categories: tight, medium and loose.
6. Shape and size
In order to facilitate the management and selection of the grinding wheel, the shape, size and characteristics of the grinding wheel are usually marked on the end face of the grinding wheel.
